Morro d’Alba, in the province of Ancona, in the Marches, lies ten Kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. Here, the climate can be harsh. Humidity emphasis the conditions

with excessive heat in the summer and heavy snowfall in winter. The area is marked by the undulating hills which roll down toward the sea.The soils are fertile, generous

and as pliable as the clay they are made of. The area’s indigenous grape variety. Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, prospers here. This is where the Lucchetti family put down its roots.

“Grandfather Armando was a tenant farmer and above all, an expert at grafting. An old man in the village had taught him this skill which had been passed

down for generations. At that time, it really was an art, trees were grown from fruit and mulberries and in March and April vines were also grafted. Everyone called upon

him when they needed his services.

There was something to be learnt from my grandfather, ninety percent of

the Lacrima vines planted were grown by him.

Her was very skilled and precise in his work and his passion for working the land also continued in the cellar.”

– Paolo Lucchetti

“The life as a farmer that I have constructed is ancored on the family that surrounds me. It was my father, Armando, who taught me that , without a family, a man who works the land will find it hard to have great results. It was from my father’s roots that i built my own, planted on a solid base. This is what I have taught my sons and what they in turn teach their children.”

–  Mario Lucchetti

My grandfather was very comitted to his work, firstly as a tenant farmer and then as an expert grafter and farmer of his own land. He was the first to belive in this indigenous grape variety. He made a selection of the vines and planted them sparingly to obtain the best wines to propagate. Stubborn, passionate and always attentive he worked scrupulously with his vines. It is with this spirit that I grew up among this vineyard. First my grandfather and then my father passed on to me the love for this profession of winemaker, teaching me from an early age to understand the thousand nuances that influence this marvellous habitat.
